A cookie is a small file a site leaves in your browser so that it recognises the same browser next time. Four of ours are unavoidable. The rest are your decision, and nothing in that second group is loaded until you say so.
1. The ones we cannot do without
Four cookies, and the shop stops working without them:
- The session cookie (JSESSIONID) — remembers that you are logged in and what is in your cart. Without it every page would forget you again.
- XSRF-TOKEN — proves a form was submitted from our page and not from somebody else's. This is what stops another site placing an order in your name.
- ps_lang — the language you picked, so we stop sending you back to the other one.
- cookie_consent_v1 — your answer to the banner, kept for a year so that we stop asking. Even refusing needs a cookie, otherwise we could not remember the refusal.
These need no consent under EU law, for the straightforward reason that you could not use the shop without them. None of them carries an advertising identifier and we do not use them to build a profile of you.
2. The ones you choose
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4. How many people arrived, which pages they read, where they gave up. It is how we learn which products are worth making more of.
- Marketing — the Meta pixel. Measures whether an advert actually led to a sale, and lets us show a reminder to somebody who looked at something and left.
Both start switched off, and off here means the scripts are never fetched at all — not loaded and then blocked. Before you choose, no identifier exists.
3. Changing your mind
Cookie preferences, at the bottom of any page, reopens the same three switches you saw the first time. Saying no costs you nothing: no part of the shop stops working, and we do not ask again for a year.
You can clear cookies in your browser instead. That erases our record of your choice along with everything else, so the banner comes back on your next visit.
